A fabulous early 19th Century oil on canvas, of a Venetian landscape. Circa 1800-1810. After Francesco Guardi (1712-1793).
This beautiful study depicts Gondolas sailing on the water against a back drop of Venice's palatial buildings, under picturesque blue skies. The painting captures the stunning architecture and canal ways of 19th century Venice superbly, using lots of finer detail to keep the viewer immersed in the scenery.
The painting is unsigned, and after Francesco Guardi. It has been recently professionally cleaned and is set in a period gilt frame.
