A stunning Oil on Copper portrait of British Army Officer, General Lord Cornwallis.

Cornwallis served as a General during the Revolutionary War (also known as the American Revolution). Leading British forces to success in New York and Philadelphia, before moving to the War's southern theatre in 1780, Cornwallis was best known for his surrender at the siege of Yorktown in 1781. This surrender marked the end of the hostilities, and led to peace negotiations between Great Britain and the United States in the following years to come.
