This fine oil on canvas portrait demonstrates expert techniques of utilising light and dark, much in the same style and manner as celebrated artist Joseph Wright (1734-1797). This wonderful mid-sized portrait features the sitter wearing a classic red uniform and white stock around his neck.
The gentleman is unknown, as is the artist. The painting sits in a decorative gilt frame and is in excellent condition, commensurate with age.
