Pair of Oil on Canvas Portraits of the Chandos-Pole Family C.1825-1830
Pair of Oil on Canvas Portraits of the Chandos-Pole Family C.1825-1830
A simply stunning pair of large oil on canvas portraits, of the Chandos-Pole family. Circa 1825-1830.
This fabulous pair of large portraits feature members of the Chandos-Pole family. In the first portrait, the wife of Edward Sacheverel Chandos Pole, Anna Maria Wilmot (1801-1877) is accompanied by two of her sons. Edward stands to her left, as younger sibling Henry sits upon a table, clutching his mother's dress.
In the second portrait, an older daughter (possibly Anna Maria Chandos Pole) plays an acoustic guitar whilst her younger sibling listens at her feet (likely Millicent or Charlotte).
The pair of portraits spent a lot of their time at Radbourne Hall, Derbyshire where the family remained until at least 1840. They were commissioned by a private artist known to the family and are unsigned. Housed in original custom wooden gilt frames.
Period: 1825 - 1830
Measurements (Each): H230cm x W165cm | H90in x W65in
NB - Whilst this item is sold as a pair, the portraits can be sold individually. Due to the size of the pieces, a specialised delivery cost will be calculated upon purchase.
