Napoleonic Flintlock Newland Style Musket C.1800
Napoleonic Flintlock Newland Style Musket C.1800
A superb example of a Napoleonic, Flintlock, 'Newland' style Musket.
This style of musket became very popular at the turn of the 19th century, and was used as late as 1850 in most cases, proving reliable, and sturdy (but not the most accurate!) weapon of choice for infantry soldiers. Later on, the Percussion cap replacements became the standard, as these were far easier to load and use under the duress of battle on foot.
This stunning piece, features brass mounts and trigger guard coupled to a walnut full stock. The 'GR' Cypher is visible, though the date mark somewhat unclear. At the rear of the lock, the official 'Tower' mark is present. The musket sits at 133cm (52.5in) overall, with a 91cm (36in) single barrel.
Period: Circa 1800 - 1810
Measurements: L133cm (Barrel: 91cm)
