A stunning rare example of a Naval Marine Brass Sextant, manufactured by Sewill of Liverpool, suppliers of the Royal Navy.
The instrument features a brass lattice frame with a silvered scale, magnifier, vernier, three telescopes and two sets of filters, mirrors and a simple rosewood hand grip.
Along the bottom of the silvered scale, bears the inscription 'Sewill. Maker to the Royal Navy Liverpool'.
A fine display piece, complete with a handsome mahogany display box. While the box lid features a blank brass plate for engraving, the name 'S. J. Jackson' has been inscribed into the wood of the lid, albeit in a decorative, calligraphy style font.
