A fine example of a Percussion Cap Muff Pistol by French firearms maker Le Page.

The year is 1717. The childlike Louis XV resides on the French throne, and the Triple Alliance between Great Britain, The Dutch Republic and France had just been signed in the wake of the Treaty of Utrecht, following the War of the Spanish Succession. Though peace had been agreed upon across mainland Europe, that did not stop the manufacture of arms throughout the 18th and 19th Century. One such gun manufacturer was Lepage, founded in this very year by French manufacturer Louis Pigny.

This stunning example comes with an engraved pattern detail between the carved ebony handle and short muzzle loaded barrel, and was manufactured circa 1830.

Maker: Lepage of Paris
Period: c.1830
Measurements: L17cm (from muzzle to handle)
