A truly wonderful French Walnut Long Case Grandfather Clock, by 19th Century maker 'A. Lavit'.
This impressive timekeeping piece comes in two parts - a tall lower case section with panelled door and brass twist and pull handle, and a glass fronted upper case. The lower case opens to reveal a brass pendulum and two clock weights - all in working order.
Inside the upper case, is a white enamel clock face detailing the maker across the lower half, flanked by Roman Numeral style numbering. A sweet brass bezel decorates the outer section, and features scenes of farmers and a horse drawn cart within it.
