An impressive bronze sculpture after Emile Carlier (1849-1927).
The piece boasts exquisite detail in the casting, and depicts a peasant woman offering a young girl a drink of water from a jug. The subjects are wearing traditional 18th century dresses and head gear, and are barefoot. The piece is signed 'Carlier' on the rear of the bronze base, and is situated over a round marble and bronze socle.
