This heavily inspired oil painting, borrows techniques and an aesthetic approach from a skilled painter within the circle of Jan Wyck.
The scene features a stag being hunted in the foreground left, surrounded by a horse and hound. While a pack of hounds in the background right close in on a second. An idyllic landscape alongside the waters edge polarises the chaotic and rather brutal scene, making for quite a striking statement piece.
The panel is mounted within an ebonised and gilded frame.
