Five Chinese Kangxi Period bowls, salvaged from the famous Vung Tau Shipwreck.

This famous cargo lay at the bottom of the South China Sea, around 100 nautical miles off the coast of Vietnam for around 300 years, before being discovered by a fisherman in 1990. The archaeological aspect of salvaging the cargo was lead by Australian diver Michael Flecker, who with a team of divers, worked on preserving as much as they could from the shipwreck.

Once verified, the pieces were then auctioned through Christie's in 1992 and went to collectors all over the world. We are proud to be able to present a small part of this collection today.

Each bowl is uniquely different from another, showing varying levels of wear and patina, commensurate with age. They would look equally at home in a more contemporary setting, and would make a fabulous addition to a kitchen or living space setting.

(Please note: Bowls are available to be purchased individually, and are priced at £120.00 each. Due to the individual nature of these pieces, we highly recommend getting in touch to discuss further, via our contact page).
